After-School Care for Kindergarten Children
The Briar Patch Child Care Centre’s Explorers program is a licensed out-of-school care program with the capacity to care for 10 kindergarten children. This program continues to build on the skills necessary for success in kindergarten and our staff works closely with teachers to ensure specific challenges are addressed and extra help is given at the centre where possible. The Safe Spaces program is also utilized with this age group to help them deal with bullying situations they may encounter in the larger school environment.
This program also includes science and math activities, group games and sports to promote turn taking, sharing and following rules, dramatic play and singing. There is also a Fun Family Phonics reading program children take part in 1 or 2 days per week.
